How To Use Marrs Green In Your Home

Earlier this year Marrs Green was voted the World’s Favourite Colour from a survey by Hull – UK City of Culture 2017 – and paper merchant GF Smith. 30,000 people around the world voted and the most popular shade was closest to the one chosen by Annie Marrs and so it was named after her!

Annie said the colour was inspired by the blue, green and greys from the River Tay in Scotland.

This vibrant shade of teal is a continuation of the Jungle trend which was big in 2017. The colour can be seen in everything from kitchens to cushions and matches nicely with metallics, especially coppers and golds, and leafy prints which remain popular.

1.Furniture

The first way of incorporating Marrs green into your interior, is through furniture.

A great example is the Calvin Armchair in Dark Teal Velvet and Linen by Atkin and Thyme, which you can see below. This mid-century style design is the ultimate occasional chair, perfect for a cosy reading corner in the living area or bedroom. The vibrant dark teal velvet offers both comfort and style, with a matching button back and contrasting natural linen base.

2. Tiles and Wallcoverings

Another easy option of working Teal into your home is through wall treatments. Why not have a bold teal feature wall in a living room, or a pretty patterned wallpaper in your bedroom? One other idea is to use teal toned tiles in your bathroom to add colour and interest.

You can see a fantastic example of using teal bathroom tiles below. Turquoise in colour, these stunning brick-shaped Jourdain Green Crackle Metro Tiles from wallsandfloors.co.uk will bring your kitchen and bathroom walls to life. They have a unique and distinctive crackled effect encrusted across the surface of the tiles. They are sure to introduce some real character into your home.

Accessories are by far the most cost effective way of incorporating Marrs Green into your interior. They are also a great way of testing whether you are ready to make a bolder statement, by using Marrs Green on your walls and within yourfurniture.

A really cute example is the bird vase below. This ceramic jar with a bird topped lid is great for a kitchen, bedroom or bathroom for storing small things. They are just as pretty stood alone as an eye catching piece of interior decoration.

I have to admit I have quite minimal taste and the idea of green anything scares me a little bit. However I love the little pops of colour with the cushions and jars. Definitely a more affordable way of staying on trend too! x

  3. This is such a bold color, but I LOVE it! I love the tiled walls and the accent furniture. I think people forget how easy it is to add little pops of color as well without going overboard. Great post!

I love color and this is a great shade to use in the house. Those tiles in the bathroom are awesome. I can imagine it’s difficult to combine with other colors, but if you keep it simple it should look great!
