How Valspar Paint Helped Me Update My Bedroom

Earlier this year, Valspar paint challenged me to upcycle a beloved or old piece of furniture using their Premium Interior Wood and Metal paint. Of course, I jumped at the chance! I’ve been in need of a chair for my bedroom desk for ages. As it turns out, my parents had the perfect chair hidden away in their garage.

When my Great Uncle Ray died, my Dad helped to clear the house. He came across an interesting pair of dining chairs that we later found out were made in Poland! As you can see from the before photo, they were very worn and in need of a lot of TLC. I personally love the croc print that has been carved into the wood on the seat and backrest. I thought this feature would look really cool when it been painted.

The Premium Interior Wood and Metal paint can withstand the toughest household stains, ensuring the colour lasts for years to come. Luckily, Valspar has over 2,000 pre-set colours as well as a colour matching service that can paint match any shade the eye can see (roughly 2.2million colours!). So, you can really let your imagination run wild especially as upcycling is a great way to add a pop of colour and brighten up any space.

After collecting lots of paint chips (and I mean lots!), I chose the shade Poseidon’s Castle VR052B.

I decided to match the paint colour to my the flowers on my wallpaper (which is in desperate need for an update!) If you follow my posts, you will know that Teal is my favourite colour. So when I do change my wallpaper, it will definitely still fit with my colour palette.

I was pleasantly surprised by the coverage of the paint. I was gifted a 2.5 litre tin of paint and I barely had to use any of it! After the first coat, the paint was a little patchy in places, but the second coat covered all blemishes.

I just need to work out what to do with the rest of my paint…

  1. I’m all for giving a fresh and new look to old furniture. It’s cheaper than buying a new one and in my opinion most of the time you can’t find the piece like that anywhere else. This chair looks so pretty in this blue color. You just reminded me that I have a few of similar ones that can use a little bit of makeover.
