A/W 2016 Interior Trends

1.Retro Revival

Retro furniture is back in a big way, with a distinctly masculine, autumnal theme. Think mustards, olives and terracottas paired with earthy walnut wood. This style is versatile as it suits big rooms such as living and dining rooms but can be scaled down for offices or studies.

2. Scandi Simplicity

Create a calm cocoon with neutral colours and a combination of natural textures. This scheme works especially well in the bedroom, particularly when Winter is approaching! This clutter free look will work equally well in modern houses and cosy cottages.

Stick to a palette of relaxing greys and creams, natural woods, smooth leathers and luxurious furs. Avoid stark lighting and instead use scented candles to create a calming space for all your senses.

3. Vintage Glamour

Create a chic, feminine look with powdery pastels and glamorous metallic finishes. This trend gives a nod to classic Hollywood glamour with a modern colour palette, combining luxurious fabrics and geometric patterns.

Mirrored tables and button back chaises are perfect for bedrooms, whereas statement lighting, tub chairs and drinks trolleys are must haves for living rooms!

To perfect this trend, use softly curved silhouettes, scrolled arms and buttoned back furniture. Add a fun element with playful patterned wallpapers. For a dramatic touch, choose black gloss accessories with brass details.

4. Heritage Prints

This elegant scheme is big on pattern and craftsmanship, celebrating the Arts and Crafts revival. Create a coherent scheme by matching patterns and similar shades, this trend is perfectly at home in a Victorian or Edwardian interior.

Upgrade the heritage theme with punchier colours or use animal motifs for a more whimsical feel. Group together succulents and display items in cloches and bell jars to channel a Victorian collector’s vibe.

Use Arts and Crafts influences, such as William Morris wallpaper or fabric to give the scheme an authentic feel. Painted wooden panelling and shaker style furniture are perfect partners for this look.

5. Moroccan Touch

The Moroccan Trend is all about vibrant jewel colours and decorative patterns. Think rich pinks, dark purples, deep blues and punchy turquoises. Don’t be afraid to layer these colours together as that is the whole point of Moroccan Decor.

Use texture to add interest and energy too, experiment with different weaves, velvets and beaded or sequin fabrics. Moroccan tiles, persian rugs and ornate lanterns are a must have feature too.

6. Tribal Trend

African influences are the key to nailing this scheme, use a range of clashing patterns and bold colours. The Ikat pattern is essential, try using it on cushions, bed linens and even wallpaper if you are brave enough! Beadwork and tassels are also common things to look out for.

This trend works particularly well with exposed brickwork and rustic wooden floorboards. Try this look in a bedroom or living room by piling up layers of patterned blankets and cushions and filling your shelves with traditional ceramics.

Be inspired by the rich colours of the African landscape by using earthy ochres, reds, oranges and yellows.
