Christmas Series: Create the Perfect Wreath

The Christmas wreath is a tradition that has been around for a long time and was initially created from fresh evergreens. Since evergreens are green year-round, they were the obvious choice during the winter months. However, nowadays people are a lot more creative with materials and objects that they use.

Wreath making is also a fantastic opportunity to get the children involved in the festivities.

I’ve compiled a short list of 5 creative wreath ideas, to give your front door a magical festive touch.

1. Traditional wreath

If you are a sucker for tradition, this idea will be perfect for you.

Nowadays, there are so many contemporary high street Christmas trends around, traditional Christmas decorations are pushed aside. However, you can still create a modern look using traditional materials.

To update, you can add metallic touches such as gold or copper as metallic tones are popular in contemporary christmas decoration.

2. Succulent Wreath

Succulents have been incredibly popular for the past couple of years, thanks to the botanical interiors trend. But, I bet you never though of creating a wreath out of them!

It’s a very creative idea that delivers a beautiful looking wreath. If you hang one of these on your door, it’s guaranteed to be the envy of all your neighbours.

3. Scandinavian wreath

Scandinavian design is famous for it’s beautiful simplicity. To design the perfect Scandi inspired wreath, consider using a brass hoop and use a eucalyptus branch to cover a section of it. You can also add twine or pine cones to enhance the natural look and feel.

5. Christmas Light wreath

For a vintage touch, why not use old Christmas light bulbs as your wreath? It sounds crazy but it creates a very bold statement. To create this, you need around 65 bulbs and a flat, 12-inch craft ring.

This wreath is also perfect if you are a fan of Stranger Things as the bulbs are similar to those hanging in the Buyers’ house.
