DreamHouzz – The Ultimate Interior Pop-up Shop

 

Houzz, the world’s leading platform for home renovation and design, has taken over a beautiful Victorian warehouse in London’s Bermondsey and transformed it into a fantastic pop-up experience where everything is shoppable!

The DreamHouzz event is set across two floors in an old tannery in Berdmonsey. It showcases eight inspirational interiors, each based on homeowners’ and renters’ needs and desires. The rooms include furniture and accessories for a range of styles and budgets to help people make their dream house a reality. Visitors are highly encouraged to immerse themselves in the lifestyle sets and buy their favourite design pieces. You can even sit on pieces of furniture, giving you the perfect opportunity to try before you buy.

The DreamHouzz will also offer visitors a chance to preview Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2019 and the key interior colour trends for the year ahead which will be brought to life in each room set.

As I have a professional profile on Houzz, I received an invitation to this event. However, The DreamHouzz is open to the public every day from 10am-9pm until the 30th September. It’s also completely free!

The Dog Lovers’ Creative Quarters by 2LG Studio

Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead, the creative duo behind 2LG Studio, have designed a bedroom for a professional couple with interest in design and fashion and their mini dachshund, who sleeps on their bed. The room is zoned into two separate areas, a sleeping area and a chill-out zone. This tech-free sanctuary is the perfect place to relax and unwind in.

I particularly love the Dachshund print wallpaper (which was designed by 2LG studio for Graham & Brown) as well as the sculptural bed frame and curved sofa. I also think this colour palette of blues and burnt orange is clever as they are colours that are on trend this season. This is definitely the most eye-catching roomset in the exhibition as it is very unique and bursting with handcrafted pieces.

The Chic Sisters’ Playful Hideaway by Dee Campling

Cheltenham-based influencer and designer Dee Campling curated a room for two sisters, aged 6 and 8. The super-cute space proves kids’ rooms can be chic.

Dee has designed a boho inspired space for the girls which is cute and contemporary. I like the fact that Dee hasn’t made it overly girly and has kept pink to a minimum. It’s refreshing to see a woodland themed bedroom for girls. Within this room, I love the tree bookcase and the tree stump seats.

The Millennial Flatshare by Owl Design

Simone Gordon and Sophie Van Winden of Owl Design have combined their design know-how to create a beautiful space for two female flatmates in their thirties. The living room is decorated in a palette of forest green and dusky pink. Depth is added through layered textures, such as rattan and velvet.

Sustainability was an important factor for this room so the designers have used a lot of furniture that has been made with traditional craftsmanship techniques. The large velvet sofa is the perfect place to relax in while the dining table is great for hosting guests and socialising. I really like the feel of this room as it is formal yet relaxed. The rug and pendant light has got to be my top picks in here, the rug brings a bohemian touch and the light is a real feature piece.  

 

The Modern Family Pad by At Home With Hostmaker

The Renter’s Sanctuary by Honey Bee Interiors

Sacha Berger of Honey Bee Interiors designed a living space for a single woman in her 40s who loves nights in watching TV, as well as entertaining friends. Her living room design has a soft, feminine touch with a muted palette of taupe, brass and a touch of blush pink. It is a true Millennial dream! As it’s a rented home, there are plenty of freestanding pieces that can easily be transported to a new property.

My favourite pieces here would have to be the beautiful pink velvet armchair and the gold starburst mirror. 

The Family Hangout by Clare Gaskin & Designed by Woulfe

Clare Gaskin and Brian Woulfe, of Designed by Woulfe joined forces to design a Mid-century space. It was designed for a couple in their 50s with two teenage children. Creating a living space where the family can switch off together was particularly important to the duo, as was incorporating a distinct retro vibe.

This room definitely has wow factor. The more I looked at this room, the more I saw. There are some really quirky accessories, such as a chess board, vintage board games and a Crosley record player, that fit perfectly with the mid-century theme. I especially like the floor lamp and the gorgeous walnut sideboard.

 

The Perfect Masculine Retreat by Brooke Copp-Barton

Simplicity and practicality, teamed with warmth and charm, are at the heart of Brooke Copp-Barton’s designs. The bedroom is for a single man in his 50s. It is filled with practical storage solutions and industrial touches. Cool greys mix with warm vintage textiles and earthy materials like leather and wood. The look is low on maintenance but high on affordable design.

This bedroom had a distinctly Moroccan feel to it, mostly because of the rich colours and clash of patterns. It is an eclectic space, yet it looks very sophisticated. I love the leather butterfly chair as it adds a masculine, industrial touch. Also, the brass wall lamps beside the bed add a more feminine feel and help to soften the look. (I’d love to have these in my own house!)

I would highly recommend a visit to DreamHouzz, especially if you are looking to redecorate soon. The only negative is you will want to buy almost everything!
