10 Easy Spring Style Updates For Your Home

Spring is always associated with new beginnings. The days are slowly getting longer and brighter, the temperature is gradually getting warmer. It is a great opportunity to update your decor to match the changes outside.

It’s time to put away the heavy fabrics and dark accessories and bring out the lighter and brighter looks for spring. Here are some easy spring updates guaranteed to banish your winter blues.

  1. Mix fake and real plants

Fake plants have a very bad reputation for being the poor relation of the real thing, but there are some seriously convincing fake plants on the market at the moment. Plus, fake plants don’t need any maintenance! If you mix fake and real, you will create a pretty arrangement, while still getting all the health benefits associated with real plants. It’s a win-win situation.

  2. Swap out artwork

This spring, why not change your artwork to liven up your space. Swapping out artwork can make your interiors so much more interesting and can completely change the feel of the space. If you get bored easily, it’s a good idea to switch your artwork every 6 months/1 year as you can see your favourite pieces afresh and appreciate them all over again.

  3. Streamline your storage

If you are short on space, go for slim storage options to give the illusion of more space. Modern storage furniture focusses on a very modular design making it lightweight and airy, suitable for all shaped spaces. Changing your storage furniture has the power to create an instant makeover.

  4. Change your accent colour

Swap bold winter hues for something fresh and soft for spring. Peachy pinks work with white, cream or grey walls for an easy restyle. If pink isn’t your thing, try a fresh pale green or blue to create a calming update.

  5. Enjoy a fresh Spring scent

Replace any spicy winter candles with a more fragrant seasonal alternative. Consider using citrus or fresh mint for an uplifting spring scent.

  6. Display your treasures

Give your prized possessions their own space to shine by displaying them on shelving. Have fun by hanging them in different compositions on your wall to suit your space.

  7. Instead of splashing out on new armchair, why not give your existing piece a makeover by recovering it a new pattern? Be a little daring and see how a simple chair can be completely transformed into a statement piece.

  8. Update your cushions

While fabrics such as velvet, silk, and even tweed are beautiful year-round, they can feel a bit heavy for the spring months. It’s easy to give your home frequent updates by having a “pillow wardrobe” for various seasons, just like you do for your clothing. Spring is a great time of year to bring in pillows in breezy fabrics like linen or printed cotton to lighten things up a bit.

  9. Add a new statement piece

Refreshing a room for spring can be quite easy. Subtle changes such as introducing a playful light fixture or buying a piece of art are simple and can instantly rejuvenate a space.

  1. Do you have any tips for good, stylish storage that keeps things hidden away? I’m currently doing up my bedroom (I’m currently living with my family after uni) and have a lot of bits that I want to keep but which wouldn’t be in keeping with the new look for my room that I’m envisaging. My room is sizeable enough for some storage furniture if I get rid of some other stuff, but it’s not huge.

  2. It’s amazing how a fresh bunch of flowers can brighten your home! Love these tips, thanks for sharing!

  3. I’m thinking about getting some new plants this spring, they really make the whole place fresh 😀
