The Acapulco chair may look very contemporary, but they have been around for decades. The Acapulco chair was originally produced in a Mexican town named (you guessed it) Acapulco in the 1950s. Usually made of vinyl cords on a metal, slightly pear-shaped frame, the Acapulco chair has most commonly been used as outdoor lounge seating. It is most commonly produced in bright, tropical colours, however, that has begun to change.

Lately, designers have been producing some variations on the Acapulco theme, which can be seen within many well known retailers.
