In September, I was set a really fun styling project based on a company of my choice. I chose to focus on fashion and homeware brand JOY.
“JOY is a unique fashion and lifestyle brand, renowned for innovative womenswear, menswear, accessories and an eclectic mix of fun, quirky and seriously stylish gifts. A quietly eccentric and achingly cool Brit stamp marks everything from JOY’s bespoke store interiors to its lovingly curated collections.”
My concept for the styling shoot was ‘Modern Retro’. JOY had a variety of retro inspired homeware items this September which is the main reason that I chose to direct the shoot towards the retro trend. I also decided to use my Aunt and Uncle’s house in Bath to take advantage of their mid century furniture.

Here are a few examples of JOY’s product styling:

As you can see, the styling is fairly simple. JOY often use a white brick or marble texture as the backdrop for their images, with a natural wooden surface in the foreground. I used be these materials in my product styling, however, I aimed to puch the boundaries of JOY’s styling too, to make it more complex and interesting.
Below, you can see my final images:

I even put together a little promotional leaflet, based upon JOY’s lookbook. Check it out below:
